Each trick is a new opportunity to buy his gimmick that makes it possible. “When you don’t know, you don’t see,” Stone says, explaining how it’s often easy to accomplish subtle staging of props for the trick right under the eyes of your audience without them realizing it.Īfter each trick, an appreciative round of “oohs” fill the room. It’s the way a master magician imparts his craft and tricks to other magicians, while selling them the little devices or artfully engineered fakes, known as “gimmicks,” that make these illusions work.
